Bart Vermeulen received his M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands, in 1997. He then started to work on test and debug methodologies for complex system chips at Philips Research. The solutions that he developed with his team have been applied in several system chips of Philips Semiconductors and NXP Semiconductors. As part of his debug activities, Bart Vermeulen was the vice-chairman of the IEEE 1149.7 standardization working group. He has published over 45 peer-reviewed publications, filed 19 patent applications, has 3 granted US patents, and has supervised more than 10 students during their internships at Philips/NXP. He is currently a senior principal scientist at NXP Semiconductors, the Netherlands. His research interests include the design, validation, and test of robust distributed architectures for embedded automotive systems. Bart Vermeulen is a member of IEEE.
